Capture what matters

Make and share frames in under 90 seconds

No stamina drain, no battle pass grind. Just templates that unlock naturally as you create.

You pick a template, drop your photo in, throw on some text or a sticker, and share it. That's when you unlock the next one. Freshframe ditches all the artificial time-gating. The reason people stick around past day 7 is that the progression actually feels earned, not like the game's trying to milk your time. Everything you unlock works right away. There's no paywall blocking the good stuff, no timers telling you to come back later. You can grab a cosmetic if it appeals to you, but honestly the game's complete without spending anything.

Why people come back

Unlock tree showing frame counts and the templates you get at each tier

Freshframe keeps progression straightforward. You're not grinding through RNG or waiting for seasonal passes. Each frame you make pushes you closer to the next unlock. Hit 5 frames and you get Neon. At 15 you unlock Pro borders with foil effects. By 50 frames, Collectibles are yours—limited templates that swap out every month. The whole unlock tree is visible in the game. Nothing's hidden. No artificial walls.

The social part works because it's not forced on you. Frames go to a profile that only your invited friends see. Weekly featured frames get picked based on actual engagement—no algorithm deciding for you, just frames that hit 5 comments and 50 likes from people you know. Seeing someone else frame their trip makes you want to frame yours. That's it. The whole thing. It's simple and it sticks.

Templates that matter

We ship somewhere between 8 and 12 templates every month, and they're all actually tested. No filler, no padding with borders that don't belong. Every single one either looks genuinely beautiful or it's deliberately ugly on purpose — like that retro fax machine vibe — and that's the whole point.

No stamina or energy bars

Want to make 50 frames in one sitting? Go for it. Or just make three. There's no meter ticking down, no notification telling you to come back in a few hours for energy. You stop when you actually feel like stopping.

Retention metrics chart displaying day-7 and day-30 rates with session duration

58% stick around day 7

Most casual games lose most of their players by day seven. We're holding onto more than half because the progression actually feels natural instead of forced. People are spending around 22 minutes per session — enough to feel satisfying, short enough to squeeze into a busy day.

The numbers

Why day-7 retention hits 58%

Average sesison is about 22 minutes. Long enough to actually do something, short enough to squeeze in during lunch or before sleep. That matters more than people think. Most mobile games want 90 minutes or feel empty at 10. Freshframe fits the gap for people who play every day but don't have whole evenings.

The unlock system doesn't hide anything either. You're not grinding toward mystery boxes. Frame 20 gives you Vintage. Frame 35 unlocks Neon Pro. You see the whoke tree in the app, so making each frame feels like moving toward something you actually want. No secrets, no seasonal locks that force you to wait.

High retention also needs the app to not feel broken. We fixed frame editor lag until it was gone. The social part works because sharing takes four taps. Your gallery loads fast. Templates drop monthly to keep unlock progression interesting. None of it's flashy but it adds up.

Made for how you actually play

Three core mechanics that keep things moving

Frame whenever you want

No stamina bars. No timers telling you to come back later. Make five frames in one go or fifty—up to you. The game stays out of your way. When you stop, everything you did stays saved.

New templates unlock as you progress

Every five frames you create, you unlock something. Reach frame 15 and the Neon set shows up. Get to 50 and collectibles start dropping. You see the whole map upfront, so there's no mystery about what comes next.

These are actual frames from players. Each one sits on screen for 90 seconds, so the details matter way more than speed. The templates are designed to be clear and readable. Colors don't wash out. Text stays legible even on busy backgrounds.

Why people stick around

A few things that keep folks playing past the first month.

New templates arrive regularly

We drop somewhere between eight and twelve new templates each month. They actually get tested first and we're not just filling the catalog with junk to make the numbers look good. Every template either does something useful or it's intentionally weird in a fun way — like that vintage fax machine aesthetic we threw in. When you unlock something, it feels like you got something real.

You can see what's coming

The whole unlock tree is right there from the start. Hit Frame 5 and Neon unlocks. Keep going and Frame 47 gets you Pro borders with that foil effect. By the time you reach Frame 100, Collectibles are yours. Nothing's hidden behind a grind toward some mystery reward. The map's visible day one.

Community without the pressure

Everything you need to know

Eight things that make Freshframe different from the frame apps cluttering your phone.

1

No energy meters

Phone screen showing frame editor with no visible energy counter or timer widget

Make 3 frames or 50. The game doesn't stop you. How long your session lasts is up to you, not some stamina bar.

2

Templates unlock every 5 frames

Hit frame 5, then 10, then 15 and something new opens up each time. You're always just five frames away from the next unlock. Feels like you're constantly moving forward.

3

Day-7 retention is 58%

Most casual games see around 30% stick around that long. We're hitting nearly 60% because the progression doesn't feel like a slog. Players come back because they actually want to, not because the game's forcing their hand.

4

One cosmetic purchase option

You can buy template packs upfront for a few bucks, one time. Everything else unlocks as you play. No premium currency hanging over your head, no battle pass, no surprise paywalls.

5

Social features you actually use

6

Monthly template releases

Between eight and a dozen new templates come out every month and we actually use all of them. No filler thrown in just to pad the numbers. Each one is either genuinely beautiful or intentionally weird.

7

Average session is 22 minutes

Long enough that you feel like you've accomplished something. Short enough to squeeze in during a work break or right before sleep. That's the ideal window for a daily player.

8

Viral coefficient is 0.18

Growth through word-of-mouth stays steady and predictable. Someone makes a frame, shows their friend, friend downloads it. That's the loop. Organic, honest, and it builds slow.

Questions

Frequently asked

Real questions from players. Direct answers without the marketing spin.

Yeah. You can make as many frames as you want and unlock everything just by playing. There's one cosmetic thing you can buy — template packs for a few bucks and it's a one-time deal — but honestly the game works great without it.
Nope. Framing is free. No stamina systems killing your momentum, no energy timers forcing you to wait, none of that stuff.
You hit the final tier around frame 100. If you're doing a session every 22 minutes or so and cranking out 5 to 10 frames each time, you're looking at somewhere between 10 and 20 sessions spread across a month or two depending on how often you actually play. It doesn't feel like a slog.
That's basically it. Pick a template, throw your photo in, mess with the borders, add some text or stickers if you want, then share it. Works with anything in your camera roll, screenshots, whatever.
Nope [though it does get better if you do]. You can totally play alone, frame your own stuff, build your own collection. Inviting people is completely optional.
We're sitting at 58% on day 7 and dropping to 34% by day 30. Most casual games hang around 30% at day 7, so we're doing better there. Real talk though — about a third of players are gone by day 30.
We push 8 to 12 new templates out every month and everything gets tested before it goes live. Some are genuinely really nice looking, some are intentionally strange [the retro fax machine one exists]. Nothing ships that feels like we're just padding the numbers.
Possibly. If photo framing doesn't actually appeal to you, no game mechanic is going to change that. But the people who dig the creative side of it tend to stick around — there's something satisfying about making something look good and putting it out there that matters way more than chasing some number.
